FAQ

We always welcome your questions and offers about Gossberg. Please, make sure that you check (if you haven’t yet) our About and Gallery pages prior reading this page further. The following questions (and answers) are listed in the order of frequency.

How much does it cost to purchase Gossberg?

Of course, this is by far the most frequent question that we get asked. We cannot post the exact sum anywhere on the Internet, including this website, for obvious reasons. But since we get various offers on a regular basis, we would like to give you a heads up about the price range and what to expect if you decide to contact us:

  • the initial price is in the euro (EUR) currency and contains 8 figures;
  • the final price of the deal is conditionally negotiable (e.g. on the basis of some reasonable/professional assessment done by potential buyer or his/her expert team);
  • the final price of the deal will not be less than 7 figures regardless of negotiation (i.e. there is a certain hard lower bound for negotiation, which cannot be changed).

In order to get a rough idea of how the initial price was calculated, we refer you to the quote from the Construction Cost section:

… by the end of construction in 1992, the gross cost of the bunker reached approximately $90,000,000 (equivalent of about $153,599,715 in 2016).

It also doesn’t harm to read through the whole story behind Gossberg on our About page and the answer to the “What could be the purpose(s) to purchase Gossberg?” question to make up your mind:

… you will hardly find another modern and secure alternative to Gossberg in the whole Europe. For instance, the end of construction dates for the most advertised ones or those appearing in the news, all date back to the very early stages of the Cold War between 1950 and 1970, while some of them are even older and date back to the times of World War II or earlier between 1920 and 1945. That is such bunkers clearly cannot compete with Gossberg in terms of security, technology, and quality.

… Gossberg’s favorable geographical location, availability of the international airport, Frankfurt–Hahn, in only 17 km (around 20 min by car) from Gossberg, and possibility to land directly with a helicopter, all make it absolutely unique for business and emergency.

Is it possible to rent Gossberg?

Yes, and the rent price is also negotiable depending on your needs.
No, not at the moment.

What could be the purpose(s) to purchase Gossberg?

All people and companies have different requirements and pursue different goals when they look for a building of Gossberg’s calibre. However, some persons, when they encounter the word “bunker”, start thinking about the property in the military context only. So let’s take a step back from that context for a moment and forget about the original purpose of Gossberg in order to see the actual business opportunities that it has to offer. Given the top level of physical security provided by Gossberg, it is a multi-purpose building that could serve as

But if we go back to the topic of military and/or cataclysm context, then you will hardly find another modern and secure alternative to Gossberg in the whole Europe.

In fact, we’re living in the state of uncertainty ever since the World War II has ended. First, the harsh Cold War period, which allegedly ended, but in reality it never did actually as the geopolitical tensions between the Eastern Bloc and the Western Bloc had, have, and will have their ups and downs. Today, it is pretty clear that there is no sign of upcoming relaxation and those relationship fluctuations between East and West will continue to trouble minds of billions of people walking the Earth in anticipation of further local armed conflicts, hot geopolitical episodes, and potentially the nuclear warfare bringing the end to all of that show. And look what is happening now — people are already talking about Cold War II and associate the beginning of it with the Ukrainian crisis.

Furthermore, consider what’s going on around Syria, where U.S. and Russia clearly have a huge clash of geopolitical interests and their armed forces are already involved in the hot action, and thank god that they are mostly involved only into dealing with the terrorist organization of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as ISIS (just yet). Speaking about ISIS, it also puts enormous effort to obtain nuclear weapons as soon as possible, and if this really happens one day, we would all suddenly wake up in a completely different world. For instance, there were already registered many incidents of nuclear material loss and/or theft with Europe being the most affected region (also probably due to the regular bias of The Washington Post, but nevertheless).

If you’re living somewhere in Americas, and think to yourself like “Screw those guys in the East, we’re all cool here!”, then we would suggest you to think twice as not only the middle East is on fire these days. Just look at the new U.S. president, Mr. Trump, his aggressive rhetorics, and the whole hysteria that is now going on around this so-called North Korea crisis, where both sides seem to be eager to put even more oil into the fire, essentially pushing the situation to detonate at any time. The worst part is that we all have no idea how far this can go; whether this is yet another provocation to organize some local armed conflict in order to make money and expand geopolitical influence, or the world is really going to envision mushroom clouds above Asia (or perhaps above America too this time?) yet again.

Last but not least, the Yellowstone Caldera is now at its second longest earthquake swarm ever recorded. Of course, there is no way to tell for sure whether the supervolcano of the Yellowstone National Park will erupt in the next several years, but none of the researchers rule out the possibility. One point is clear though — if it actually erupts, this will be the most disastrous cataclysm ever seen by humanity since the beginning of ancient history recordings. Needless to say that most of the U.S. territory will become uninhabitable for decades to come and millions of people will inevitably die because of starvation caused by volcanic winter which could last up to several years.

All of the uncertainties listed above and the events potentially following them are major game changers and will deliver tremendous impact worldwide in one way or the other (be it a reformatting of the political map, or a drastic change in a geopolitical configuration, or a massive refugee crisis, or god knows what else…) and especially if they will somehow overlap. If you are a person who has already gone through all of that analysis on your own and got concerned about the future of yourself, your kids, your family, and your wealth after all, then Gossberg could become your salvation.

Please, don’t get our message wrong here. Although, we are indeed trying to sell the property here, we’re at the same time standing with both of our legs on the ground, have a realistic perception, and only wish that our customers make up their minds themselves and really understand what they want when they contact us. Although Gossberg may not guarantee to automagically save you from any virtually possible global adversity scenario, it can for sure greatly help you and your family to

  • make it through the long-lasting dark ages in a private stronghold;
  • survive a doomsday in a high-end fallout shelter;
  • complement and grow your business during peaceful times.

Finally, all of these three main bullets combined with Gossberg’s favorable geographical location, availability of the international airport, Frankfurt–Hahn, in only 17 km (around 20 min by car) from Gossberg, and possibility to land directly with a helicopter, all make it absolutely unique for business and emergency. Don’t miss your chance and be the first to secure the deal!

Were there any success stories of using Gossberg in the past?

Yes, of course. In fact, Gossberg was originally purchased solely for the business purposes to begin with. The very first project executed inside Gossberg already required it to serve as

  • a secure back office for nearly 50 people,
  • a reinforced bank vault storage for banknotes, and
  • a protected warehouse for valuable parcels circulating through the Frankfurt Airport,

where the main focus was the advent of the euro currency and replacement of the Deutsche Mark (DM) with it in the period between 1999 and 2002. That is both euros and DMs were kept safe and maintained by the staff at Gossberg for several times during the gradual process of replacement.

Later, Gossberg was turned into a secret laboratory, where a group of scientists was working for several years on the development of laser technologies with application to gemstones. It is well-known that the physical/spatial stability is a paramount aspect of successful laser experiments, i.e. even infinitesimal vibrations could disrupt and spoil a year-long experiment forcing one to start everything from scratch. That is exactly how the group of scientists came to find and utilize Gossberg as there is hardly anything more stable than a nuke-proof bunker. For the obvious reasons, we cannot disclose any further information about this project.

Afterwards, there were many other interesting projects as well, including filmmaking, storage of precious metals, deployment of computer equipment, and so on. Hopefully, this little retrospective will give you more confidence and/or hints for your own ideas with respect to business opportunities which could be implemented with Gossberg.
